FIPS 140-2 Security Policy
UGS Corp Teamcenter Cryptographic Module
1. Introduction
The following describes the security policy for the UGS Corp Teamcenter Cryptographic
Module (TCM). This module provides FIPS-validated encryption, hashing, digital
signatures, random number generation, and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) / Transport
Layer Security (TLS) encryption for HTTPS.
The TCM is a software module that is dynamically linked as a DLL by Teamcenter
applications that require cryptographic capabilities. Any Teamcenter product that uses
this library as its sole source of cryptographic functionality and that has adhered to the
guidelines of this document may be operated in a FIPS-compliant manner.
While the UGS Teamcenter Cryptographic Module incorporates source code from
OpenSSL, the TCM does not use OpenSSL's FIPS 140-2 validation. Rather, the TCM
represents a separate, independent validation that does not depend upon any other
validation.
